Many citizens and groups are concerned with the control of invasive plants, for good reason, and seek guidance on best control methods. There are certainly a variety of tools in the invasive plant species management toolbox, including, but not limited to: prescribed fire, hand pulling, digging, herbicide application (several application methods), grazing, mowing, suffocation, and biocontrol agents. As with any job, we must ensure we are selecting the appropriate tool, or combination of tools, to effectively and efficiently complete the task. Each of the tools listed comes with a list of pros and cons that require careful consideration before action is taken.
